So, Can Social Media Really Help?
The question is as old as time… well, as long as social media has been around anyway.
Social media first started as a way to connect with people in your life, it made it easy to follow along with your friends euro summer trip, reconnect with your second cousin, and stalk that ex (which quickly turned into stalking your ex’s new partners best friends uncles dogs account, and accidentally liking their photo from 2012). But since then, it has quickly become a way to connect with everyone, keep up with news and current events, stay up to date on trends, promote yourself, promote your business, and not act like a keyboard warrior (I’m looking at you user_346834 who doesn’t even have a profile picture). Anyone who is anyone has a profile in some respect, and so you should!
Having your business utilising social media is really important, it’s social proof baby. The more followers you have, ultimately the more trustworthy your business has become, the more engagement your posts have, the more likely you are to encourage people to buy from you. Social proof is the new currency, and we all want a piece of that sweet sweet cherry pie. However, consumers are SMART, and they will quickly determine if that account with 489k followers with no post likes or comments is trash, and most likely paid for all of their followers (apart from their own personal account, their mum and dads account, and their dogs account of course). And just like that… poof, their social proof is in the bin next to last night's casserole (sorry to the chef). Showing up on your social media accounts in a considered, organic and strategic way will build the community of loyal followers even stronger than you’ve ever dreamed of, increasing your sales, popularity and most importantly, your social proof.
